Biography

Caroline Murphy is Director of Operations for the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered King’s Clinical Trials Unit and supports the delivery of the NIHR Research Support Service hub at King's.

Caroline has over 25 years of clinical trials and research management experience, managing the King's CTU since 2005. Having worked in an early phase clinical trials unit before joining King's College London in 1999, she gained experience in recruitment of participants into academic and commercial neuroscience trials and trials management experienced on a large EU funded neuroscience trial. She has contributed to several working groups within the UKCRC Network, producing best practice guidance for CTUs and sponsor organisations across the UK. She is a reviewer for several medical journals and is a strong advocate for transparency in clinical trials.

Caroline is a registered nurse (adult nursing) with specialist qualifications in neuroscience, palliative care and tropical disease nursing, and completed both an MSc in Clinical Trials and an MBA via distance learning since joining King's. Supported by her senior team, she leads a large group of operations experts in clinical trials, including database managers, project managers, trial administrators, pharmacists, IT programmers and quality assurance staff.
