Arti Mistry is a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Teaching Fellow in the Department of Women and Children's Health in the School of Life Course & Population Sciences. Arti completed her PhD with Professor Rachel Tribe and Professor Heinz Jungbluth at King's College London in 2023. Her doctoral work focused on the impact of the skeletal type 1 ryanodine receptor (RYR1) channel on uterine and uterine artery smooth muscle function during pregnancy. Using a transgenic mouse model of pregnancy and human patient data she determined the impact of autosomal dominant RYR1 variants on several obstetric and gynaecological factors. Arti Mistry graduated from St George’s University of London in 2018 with an MSci in Biomedical Science. At the Neurometabolic Diseases Laboratory, IDIBELL in Barcelona, via the ERASMUS+ programme, she undertook a project focused on the functional validation of candidate variants in the diagnosis of patients with hereditary spastic paraplegia and leukodystrophies. Her research interests and her passion for teaching are highlighted by her involvement as a module lead in the MSc Women and Children's Health at King's College London. She is also regularly involved in teaching activities including marking, lecturing and final year project supervision.
