Biography
Professor Ann McNeill is Professor of Tobacco Addiction in the Department of Addictions. She believes an essential part of her role is enthusing, engaging and nurturing new and early career researchers and that building a diverse research workforce is critically important for success.
Ann was the IoPPN's inaugural Vice Dean for Culture, Diversity & Inclusion (CD&I), serving as the Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Self-Assessment Team since 2015. She played a key role in shaping the Faculty's CD&I priorities during her time in post and led a number of executive level initiatives to improve the gender balance and culture of decision making in Senior IoPPN Committees.

Nicotine Research Group
The Nicotine Research Group leads and collaborates on a variety of projects on tobacco harm reduction and e-cigarettes.
Harm Reduction
Aiming to reduce the harmfulness of nicotine use for those who wish to continue using it, or those who cannot stop smoking.

Policy
To reduce smoking in populations, a comprehensive strategy involving a number of different tobacco control policies is required.
