Dr Anatoliy Markiv

Director of Distance Learning Programmes and Academic Lead for Technology Enhanced Learning

Biography

My research interests are in pioneering novel genetic engineering methodologies, molecular and synthetic biology techniques, and scrutinising novel and rare genetic variants pertinent to health and disease. I am Head of the Genetics Education Department with responsibility for the management of the Molecular Genetics BSc, Molecular Genetics MSci, Healthcare Genetics and Genomics iBSc, Genomic Medicine MSc and Applied Bioinformatics MSc programmes.

I run Molecular Biology Practical Project module for third year students and contribute to teaching students in all years. My education research is based on understanding challenges and opportunities associated with implementing digital learning technologies, AI, adaptive learning algorithms, intelligent tutoring systems, and other personalised learning approaches in education.

I am also an Academic Lead for Technology Enhanced Learning and a Director of Distance Learning Programmes in the faculty.
