MA Conflict, Security & Development
- Research Analyst at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office
Biography
In my role as a Research Analyst at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, I provide policy-focused expertise, research, and advice on a range of international institutions and themes – these include the UN, peacekeeping, conflict and human rights. On a given day, I can be helping UK policy on anything from the text of Security Council resolutions to the high-level design of peace processes.
My MA degree provided a really useful grounding in the key themes and cases of conflict and the international response to them. It balanced the conceptual and practical, and the cross-cutting and country-specific. And most importantly, it equipped me with the tools to critically assess the evidence in a highly contested field.
I’ve kept in touch with peers from my MA degree and the wider department – this has been a really useful professional network as my career has progressed.
