It's an honour for me to have been elected a Fellow of the British Academy, but much more importantly for my fields of study. I owe more debts than I can say to my colleagues, in West Africa and in the UK, and promise to work tirelessly for my fields as a Fellow.

Two King's academics receive British Academy Fellowships
The British Academy announce Professor William Fitzgerald and Professor Toby Green as Fellows.
Professor William Fitzgerald, Professor of Latin Language & Literature in the Department of Classics and Professor Toby Green, Professor of Precolonial and Lusophone African History and Culture in the Department of History and the Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures have been elected amongst 86 new British Academy Fellows.
This prestigious award means the new Fellows - from the Faculty of Arts & Humanities - join a community of more than 1700 distinguished academics. They are scholars who have 'attained distinction in any of the branches of study which it is the object of the Academy to promote' – ie, the humanities and the social sciences.
This year’s cohort of new Fellows represent a diverse range of specialisms across the humanities and social sciences.
