Ambassador Harold Adlai Agyeman, Ghana’s permanent representative to the UN, delivered a talk at King’s on 22 March where he reflected on security in west Africa and the Sahel.

Ambassador Agyeman also discussed Ghana’s 2022-23 term on the UN Security Council, one of the most senior decision-making bodies responsible for maintaining international peace, and took questions from audience members too.

High Commissioner Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Ghana's ambassador to the UK and the Republic of Ireland, also attended the lecture, which took place in the Weston Room, part of King’s Maughan Library.

Event organiser, Dr Mark Langan, from the Department of European and International Studies, said: “We were honoured to welcome Ambassador Agyeman to King’s.

“The ambassador gave an in-depth and incisive account of key issues surrounding Ghana's recent tenure on the UN Security Council. We were also honoured to welcome His Excellency Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Ghana's ambassador to the UK and the Republic of Ireland, who attended what was a fantastic event.”
