I’m writing to extend my heartfelt thanks for your incredible support for the King’s Global Institute for Women’s Leadership over the past six years, and to let you know that I will be stepping down as Director of the institute in January, when I will take up a new academic role in the Department of Political Economy.

I'm hugely proud of the work that the team have done in my time at GIWL – from developing our Changemakers programme and influencing government gender pay gap reporting around the world, to exploring changing attitudes to gender equality and researching what workplaces can do to better support women. None of this would have been possible without your support.

I’m delighted to say that Professor Heejung Chung will be taking over as Director in the new year. Heejung is a renowned expert on the world of work and employment, and how it intersects with gender and other social inequalities. Her research on the “flexibility paradox” in particular is truly groundbreaking, and I'm looking forward to seeing GIWL continue to flourish under both her leadership and that of GIWL chair Julia Gillard.

With this change in leadership, GIWL will move from the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy (SSPP) to the King’s Business School, where Heejung is also a Professor of Work and Employment.

GIWL has been kindly supported since its establishment by SSPP, while based in the Policy Institute, and both will continue to work with GIWL on key long-term research projects, particularly those focused on women’s leadership in politics and policy, through which I will also retain a close connection to GIWL.

Thank you so much again for making the last six years so productive and impactful. Julia and I are incredibly grateful for your support and are excited to work with you and Heejung on this new phase of GIWL’s development.
