Professor Sebastien Ourselin appointed Assistant Principal (Innovation)

Professor Sebastien Ourselin has been appointed to a new role of Assistant Principal (Innovation).

Seb will take up this new fractional role on 1 March 2025 and continue in his leadership of the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine (FoLSM) and his Director roles including the Director of the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering and the Director for Digital Health and Data Sciences for King's Health Partners (KHP).

The Assistant Principal (Innovation) role has been created to respond to the University’s growth and strategic ambitions for innovation and enterprise. Seb will work at local, national and international levels to foster, maintain and grow strategic partnerships and alliances with industry, government and non-government.

I am honoured to begin my new role as Assistant Principal (Innovation) at King's. I am particularly excited to collaborate across the University's research ecosystem, connecting with partners and identifying the critical elements needed to realise King's Vision 2029. This role offers a unique platform to unite the resources and expertise necessary for transformative innovation and drive impact across the University.

Seb will work closely with Professor Sir Bashir M. Al-Hashimi, Vice President (Research & Innovation) and with colleagues across King’s on the University’s approach to research translation, commercialisation, spinouts and ventures builders, to facilitate application and impact.

King’s has ambitious plans to translate its research discoveries into societal, economic, and environmental benefits, and having Seb’s expertise, leadership and drive in innovation will accelerate and scale up this translation.
