Andreia was amongst 12 winners from across the King’s alumni community who have excelled in their field.

Launched in 2017, the King’s Distinguished Alumni Awards are an annual celebration recognising outstanding alumni who represent the King’s ethos of making the world a better place. The awards recognise distinguished alumni and students who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement, civic leadership, or service to King’s and society.

Enhanced Fertility provides clinical grade at-home testing for both women and men, who have been trying to conceive for at least six months. Infertility currently affects 1 in 6, with diagnosis taking on average 3.2 years. Using machine learning, Enhanced Fertility speeds up diagnosis drastically shortening treatment waiting times.

In 2022, Andreia joined the King’s20 Accelerator (now King’s Start-up Accelerator) receiving 12 months of support to scale her venture. In 2023, Enhanced Fertility worked with 15 clinics in the UK and Europe. This is projected to jump to 75 clinics in 2025. Last year, Andreia was awarded a Purple Plaque from Innovate UK, which she gifted to King’s to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurial nurses.

All this follows her own diagnosis of infertility aged just 17.

I take immense pride in the impact we’ve made at Enhanced Fertility. Witnessing the joy and fulfilment experienced by our patients as they achieve their dreams of parenthood is incredibly rewarding. I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead meaningful work and contribute to the lives of others in such a profound way.

Entrepreneurial nurses are rare, yet Andreia has combined her motivation stemmed from personal diagnosis, 15 years of clinical experience and eight years’ experience running businesses, to create a growing impact for 2,000+ people. She is thoroughly deserving of this award and is an inspiration to our entrepreneurial community at King’s and beyond.
