Professor Jill Manthorpe to advise Migration Advisory Committee on adult social care
Jill Manthorpe, Professor of Social Work at King's, has been appointed by the Migration Advisory Committee to advise on its adult social care commission.
Jill Manthorpe is one of four experts appointed by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) to advise on the Committee's current adult social care commission. The appointment follows a public expression of interest process.
Professor Manthorpe (pictured) is Director of the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Workforce in the Policy Institute at King's. Her fellow appointees are Dr Franca van Hooren (University of Amsterdam), Dr Rhidian Hughes (Voluntary Organisations Disability Group) and Vic Rayner OBE (National Care Forum).
The MAC is an independent, non-departmental public body that advises the government on migration issues. In July 2021, the Minister for Future Borders and Immigration commissioned it to review adult social care and the impact the ending freedom of movement has had on the sector. The Committee is due to report by the end of April 2022.
Professor Manthorpe, who has been at King's since 2002, has conducted a number of studies examining the international character of the health and social care workforce.
