King's welcomes Professor Kirsty Hill as Dean for Education at the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences
A warm welcome to Professor Kirsty Hill, who joins King’s this week as the Dean for Education at the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences. Professor Hill arrives at a critical time for education and the student experience in the faculty.
Previously the Head of School for Dentistry at the University of Birmingham, a position she had held since 2020, Professor Hill has over 25 years of experience in Dental Education and Dental Public Health, including as Head of Student Wellbeing and Head of Education.
The recent FoDOCS National Student Survey (NSS) results will be a focus for Professor Hill. During her time at the University of Birmingham she successfully addressed issues raised by the NSS, including in the areas of management and organisation, assessment and feedback, and enhancing the student voice. Professor Hill hopes her proven track-record in making significant change will see a better experience for students at the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences.
“I am deeply passionate about education and am committed to ensuring all student groups feel valued and heard,” says Professor Hill. “Joining King's College London presents a unique set of challenges, not only due to its size and location but also because of the diverse range of programmes it offers.”
Professor Hill aims to work closely with all student groups to collaboratively understand and address their issues, and work to enhance the faculty’s reputation as a thriving educational institution. Her goal is to ensure that King's College London students receive an excellent experience and that graduates are proud of their degrees, ultimately benefiting patients across the UK.
“I am looking forward to working with students and staff in FoDOCS, and indeed the wider College, in the coming months. I have an open-door policy, which will continue, and I encourage everyone to reach out to me at any time”, she says.
Professor Hill succeeds Professor Kim Piper, who stepped down from the role of Dean for Education earlier this year.
