King's signs MoU with QinetiQ to expand research partnerships
King’s has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with QinetiQ to expand collaborations across a range of strategic research areas, including advanced materials and human performance.

The MoU builds on over 10 years of cooperation between King’s and the defence and security company, across science and technology research, with cooperation in metamaterials, human physiology and signal processing for sensing.
The aim of the new partnership is to strengthen current areas of collaboration and connect QinetiQ to new areas of relevant research activity across King’s, in the areas of advanced materials and human performance, among others. QinetiQ will also aim to support the commercialisation of technologies and licensing of patents for cutting-edge innovations developed at King’s.
Alongside opening up new areas of research collaboration, the MoU could also support a pipeline of new research talent in science and technology through sponsoring PhD studentships.
Professor Sir Bashir Al-Hashimi, Vice President (Research & Innovation) said, “Our society faces unpresented challenges, so building synergies between academic institutions and industry partners is more important than ever.
"King’s has ambitious plans to translate its research into societal, economic, and environmental benefits. Building industry partnerships will accelerate and scale this impact. I am delighted to see the MoU between QinetiQ and King’s, strengthening our collaboration."
