This year, the ‘People & Planet’ metric was introduced to the guide, which measures sustainability within an institution, and in which, saw King’s place 5th overall in and 1st in the Russell Group.

This strong performance helped contribute to King’s overall rise in the ratings, alongside the University’s consistently high outcomes in the ‘Research Quality’ metric, which placed 8th. Further, King’s position in Graduate Prospects remained strong at 13th.

We know that universities’ commitment to sustainability is increasingly important for prospective students, so it’s fantastic to see the Good University Guide introducing the ‘People & Planet’ metric to this year’s rankings, and really gratifying to see King’s recognised for our focus on accelerating climate research, education and action across the university.

This includes music at King’s which has placed joint 2nd in the country (with the University of Durham), and Sociology now being ranked in the top 5. Liberal Arts and Humanities at King’s has been ranked as 3rd in the UK.

Chemistry and German both jumped an impressive 11 places to 22nd and 7th respectively.

Accounting and Finance; Philosophy; Theology and Religious Studies; Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering; Business Management and Marketing; Classics; Dentistry; Psychology; and Law all placed amongst the top 10 in their subjects.
