FoDOCS Success at the King's Education Awards 2024

Since 2002, the King’s Education awards have recognised the amazing people we have working at King’s.

What is particularly important about these awards is that they are student-led and allow students to nominate anyone who has supported them in and out of the classroom, including lecturers, tutors, teaching support, graduate teaching assistants (GTAs), professional service staff, researchers, or personal tutors.

Well done to all the staff from FoDOCS who were nominated by our students, and to those who were then shortlisted to fit the 6 categories by our faculty panel of both staff and students.

The shortlist from the faculty included Mona Hajatdoost-Sani (for Sustained Excellence), Sherif Elsharkawy (for both Innovation in Teaching and Expanding Opportunities), Jadbinderpal Seehra (for both Inclusive Education and Excellent Feedback) and Holly Phillips (for Student Support). The shortlisted were then submitted to the King’s Education Awards team for consideration.

It is our great pleasure to announce that two of our faculty nominees were selected as winners.

Inclusive Education: Jadbinderpal Seehra

This award recognises an individual (or team) who shows commitment and dedication to widening participation by creating a diverse and inclusive environment, through curriculum content and design, teaching practice, and/or supporting students and colleagues.

Student Support: Holly Phillips

This award recognises an individual (or team) who frequently goes the extra mile to support students in and outside of the classroom.

To have two of our staff recognised in the King’s Education Awards, out of a total of only six across King’s, shows the strength of our education in the faculty. I would like to offer huge congratulations to both Jadbinderpal and Holly, and to all those shortlisted as well, including Mona Hajatdoost-Sani and Sherif Elsharkawy.

It is always pleasing to have the excellent education work, undertaken by so many of us in the faculty, recognised in the King’s Education Awards.
