Dr Nigel Fletcher spoke to the Daily Mirror about the motive behind the prime minister’s decision to call an election on 4 July, defying the expectations of pundits. Dr Fletcher also spoke to Fi Glover of Times Radio (~26 minutes) and was interviewed live on air by WION as news of the early election broke.

Dr Rod Dacombe discussed the issues which could prove central to the election campaign in an interview with French publication, La Depeche du Midi.

PhD candidate Richard Power Sayeed spoke to TalkTV about reports that Diane Abbott had been prevented from standing for the Labour Party at the upcoming election.

The diminishing chances of a interest rate cut in June, made more remote by the calling of a general election, was in focus in an inews interview with Martin Weale.

Professor Andrew Blick was a guest on both BBC News 24 and Al Jazeera Arabic as news of the snap election emerged.

Dr Russell Foster and Dr Alex Clarkson interviewed colleagues Dr Ben Jones on the Breaking Britain podcast, with defence and foreign policy for the next government top of the agenda.
