Today Jill Manthorpe led a seminar at the Sau Po Centre on Ageing in Hong Kong for researchers and doctoral students on recent methodological developments in carer research, drawing on Unit studies.
Today Jill Manthorpe led a seminar at the Sau Po Centre on Ageing in Hong Kong for researchers and doctoral students on recent methodological developments in carer research, drawing on Unit studies. Discussion ranged from risk of sampling from easily accessed carers to making sure national data are used. As with the UK, family and friend caregiving is a topic of great interest in Hong Kong, although the situation in Hong Kong differs with the employment of many domestic helpers and a greater use of residential care facilities, as well as housing pressures and different financial incentives and disincentives.
