Last night the Department of Political Economy hosted a book launch celebrating the release of Dr. Anja Shortland’s recent publication: Kidnap: Inside the Ransom Business.
The much-anticipated book discusses why kidnaps for ransom occur, how kidnaps can become insurable and what happens when a kidnap goes wrong.
Dr Anja Shortland has commented on the journey behind her book:
‘Researching piracy and kidnap for ransom has been a long but fascinating journey of discovery. I am delighted to launch my book Kidnap: Inside the Ransom Business in the company of many of the people who supported me: colleagues, contributors, students, co-authors, family, my editor, and my friends.’
