Human imaging

Changes in brain structure and function are associated with conditions such as epilepsy, stroke and psychosis. Neuroscientists and clinicians want to understand what is happening in these, and other, psychiatric and neurological disorders. Using imaging, it's possible to see structural changes caused by disease processes and to investigate changes in brain function (in some cases, in real-time). We use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques to understand the differences between health and disease or  dysfunction.

Find out more about our human imaging facilities and opportunities for future collaborations.

Our key questions:

  • What are the mechanisms underlying brain disorders?
  • How can we translate our pre-clinical developments into improved outcomes for patients in the clinic?
  • How can neuroimaging improve the diagnosis and treatment of people with psychiatric and neurological diseases?
