About the presenter

Dr Nicola Lester specialises in working with psychological trauma and supports organisations in the UK and overseas to develop trauma informed approaches to practice. She has recently been awarded a PhD in Politics and International Relations from Cardiff University where her research focused on exploring the experiences of bereaved military families following the death of their loved one whilst serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. She has a specialist interest in understanding how organisational responses to traumatic bereavement impact on the bereaved family and has worked previously with a range of statutory and non-statutory services in the aftermath of a crisis, including war, sexual violence, terrorism and hostage taking.
