Propaganda, an age-old practice, has resurfaced in the digital age, now amplified by AI and emerging technologies. Dr. Olejnik will delve into how disinformation, influence operations, and cognitive warfare are reshaping the information landscape, offering insights into their actors, risks, and opportunities. Drawing from his 2024 book Propaganda, he’ll introduce a fresh framework for understanding and analysing these modern dynamics, making this event a timely and essential discussion on how technology is transforming propaganda into a more pervasive and concerning force.

Speaker: Dr Lukasz Olejnik is an independent researcher and consultant and Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Department of War Studies, KCL. He was formerly cyberwarfare advisor at the International Committee of the Red Cross and a member of the W3C Technical Architecture Group. He is the author of Philosophy of Cybersecurity (CRC Press, 2023) and Propaganda: From Disinformation and Influence to Operations and Information Warfare (CRC Press, 2024).

Chair: Dr Tim Stevens, Reader in International Security, Department of War Studies and Director of the KCL Cyber Security Research Group.
