There is growing interest in UK mathematics departments to make mathematics as accessible as possible to BAME students. This workshop will look at a variety of practical steps that mathematicians might take, including working with the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences, providing language support for overseas students and widening participation in schools.
The workshop welcomes anyone interested in improving BAME experience of mathematics in higher education. It will provide a forum for debate on the best approaches, on the evidence for the effectiveness of different interventions, and on considering where the UK mathematical community should best focus its efforts.
