Book talk - Open Source Investigations in the Age of Google

King's Building, Strand Campus, London

01OctOSINT Book 2

The Centre for Science & Security Studies (CSSS) invites you to join a discussion with Henrietta Wilson on new developments in open source investigations. The panel will include authors and editors from a major, recently released new book Open Source Investigations in the Age of Google.

About this event

It can be a struggle to know what ‘facts’ to believe, given that there are now such vast quantities of data available, alongside growing amounts of mis- and dis-information, a fracturing internet, and increasing distrust of mainstream media. However, new players are showing how novel open source tools and information can join traditional approaches to clarify and democratise what we know across a huge range of threats to human security.

The discussion will consider how open source investigations can help people track threats to human security, what differences digital technologies are making, and opportunities and challenges they present and encounter.

This panel discussion brings together editors and authors from the newly released publication, Open Source Investigations in the Age of Google, to discuss their work investigating global wrongdoing, how findings can be used within national and international accountability, justice and governance, and the opportunities and challenges this new sector represents.
