Mapping Progress: Launch of the Gender Equality Index UK

Science Gallery London, Guy’s Campus, London

14MaySlide3

Join us for the launch of the Gender Equality Index UK (GEIUK) — the first comprehensive measure of gender equality across 372 local authorities revealing that no area has achieved full parity between women and men.

The GEIUK highlights significant variations in outcomes across local authorities and challenges the idea that gender equality is a zero-sum game. Instead, it shows that areas with greater gender equality tend to exhibit better outcomes for everyone.

Our panel will explore the complex links between gender equality, regional disparities and economic productivity, including why areas where men take on more unpaid work show higher overall outcomes.

They’ll also unpack the gendered dimensions of the UK’s enduring North–South divide and discuss targeted policy interventions to close the most significant gender gaps identified by the GEIUK.
