The King’s Experts Series is a series of events exclusively for King’s alumni. Through these events, attendees have the opportunity to hear from leading academics, researchers and practitioners at King’s on some of the most important issues of our time.

King’s Experts Series: Peace and security in a turbulent world

We live in a turbulent world, where uncertainties surrounding peace, security, and the prosperity of societies are ever-growing.

In an era when the stability of the international order seems increasingly unpredictable King’s is using interdisciplinary perspectives on security and statecraft, with more scholars studying different aspects of international affairs than any other university in the UK.

This webinar will bring together our King’s experts to discuss the intersection of security, defence, and academic research guiding strategic planning for a stable and prosperous future.

Highlighting academics from the Centre for Defence Studies, the Centre for Grand Strategy, the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and the Policy Institute, we’ll look at historical concepts of security, exploring state and none state actors in today's complex international landscape.

Bridging the gap between research and practice, we reflect on how peacebuilding and justice today demand a rethinking of strategy.

You’ll hear from:

  • Dr Hillary Briffa – Senior Lecturer in National Security Studies and the Assistant Director of the Centre for Defence Studies
  • Bobby Duffy - Director of the Policy Institute
  • Andrew Ehrhardt – Research Fellow at the Centre for Grand Strategy
  • Dr Shiraz Maher - Director of the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation

The session will last 60 minutes and will include a structured panel conversation followed by an opportunity for some questions from the audience.
