Imaging Peace: Connection through Peace Photography
The Exchange, Strand Campus, London
This free workshop will explore the visual peace approaches that underpin projects featuring in the outdoor exhibition Imaging Peace on London's Strand.
Connecting through Peace Photography will invite participants to consider how photography – both images and the process of image-making – can be used to foster peace, resist violence, transform conflict and build connection across division.
Through guided activities, participants will gain hands-on experience of visual peace methods, engaging in photo dialogue and participatory peace photography activities while taking part in critical discussions about the ethics, opportunities and challenges involved with these methods.
This workshop is inspired by ‘Peace Photography: A Guide’ a recently published resource from Dr Tiffany Fairey, exploring peace photography practice and methods.
About Imaging Peace at Kings
Imaging Peace, the outdoor exhibition on London’s Strand is a collaborative project with Dr Tiffany Fairey, supported and produced by King’s Culture in partnership with the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy and VEM Network. It is one of the outcomes of Dr Tiffany Fairey’s 3-year Leverhulme Fellowship research project, investigating the critical and neglected relationship between photography and peacebuilding
The exhibition is part of Lost & Found: Stories of sanctuary and belonging, a free programme of arts and ideas at King’s College London, presented by King's Culture and created with artists, researchers, academics and communities from London and beyond. The programme explores themes of refuge, resilience, and the search for safety in a world facing significant social, political, and environmental challenges. It reflects King’s status as a University of Sanctuary and has been inspired and informed by King’s life-changing research and commitment to building peace and justice in a turbulent world.
