You’re invited to the showcase of Illuminating the Brain, an artwork created by artist Kyam in collaboration with the Neuro-HSI researcher group at King's College London and patients and carers from The Brain Tumour Charity.

Informed by conversations between researchers, patients and carers, the artwork harnesses colour and light to convey the group's varied experiences relating to brain tumours. Light and colour were chosen as they reflect the essence of the research project, which is investigating the potential of Hyperspectral Imaging to improve surgery for brain tumour removal. The Illuminating the Brain project sought to bring researchers, patients and carers together to facilitate sharing across the community and to create an artwork that would raise awareness of brain tumours and the associated research.

Please join us for a celebration of this collaboration, a preview of the artwork and talks from contributors.

If you have a question about brain tumours, surgery, hyperspectal imaging or research in this field, or want to know more about this particular art project, please do email it in advance so we can answer it on the night. Please email your question to Jonathan.Shapey@kcl.ac.uk.

Speakers to be confirmed shortly.

This project was coordinated by Bella Spencer and Alice Taylor-Gee, Public Engagement, Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Medical Engineering at King’s College London.
