It has been over 18 months since we held our last meeting of the health and social care support worker network and after a period of intense pressure on frontline health and care services it would appear timely to take stock of the training and development agenda for support workers.

At this meeting

  • The past: reflecting on how this agenda has developed over the years, how previous support worker initiatives have fared and whether longstanding challenges remain.
  • The present: exploring current initiatives such as NHSE’s Health Care Support Worker programme and the apprenticeship programme as it continues to roll-out, as well as considering the immediate pressures and challenges facing health and social care providers as they seek to train and develop their support workers.
  • The future: examining how this agenda might be taken forward as health and care needs evolve, as new, more integrated models of service delivery take shape and as new support roles emerge.

As previously, the workshop will be based on presentations from national, regional, and local policymakers and practitioners, while leaving time for discussion and the sharing of ideas and views.

Note: this is a by-invitation-only event.
