Greening up the clinical skills centre: Clinical Skills Sustainability Project climate café launch event
The Clinical Skills Sustainability Project seeks to reduce the carbon footprint of clinical skills education across the Health Faculties where nursing, midwifery, medical and physiotherapy students receive education.
The project aims to reduce waste by 25% over the next year through recycling, reusing and finding alternative disposal methods for waste generated from clinical skills sessions. By diverting them from being incinerated in the same way as clinically infective materials, the project aims to lower carbon emissions and costs, increase sustainability awareness among students, academic and NHS staff, and create models for use in other educational and clinical settings across the UK and internationally.
Join us at this climate café and launch event to hear more about the project and the work the team is doing to reduce both waste and the carbon footprint of teaching clinical skills to healthcare students.
There will be a chance to interact with project members responsible for various parts of the project and we will be asking participants to give us feedback and share ideas that they might have. There will be some plant based snacks and cold beverages, but people can bring their own food and drinks to this climate café.
