The Lau China Institute together with Young China Watchers welcomes submissions to its 2023 writing competition on the theme of 'China - Knowledge Superpower'.
Interested applicants are invited to submit short essays or op-ed style pieces (750-850 words) that explore China as a global leader in research and education. This may include topics related to China's R&D, innovation and education (see the T&Cs for further examples).
To be eligible, applicants must be 35 years or under and living in the UK (UK and non-UK residents with a registered UK bank account will be eligible).

The Prize
The author of the winning entry will receive £300, be invited to present their essay at the Young China Watchers conference in 2024, and have their essay published on the YCW blog. The winner will be formally announced during the Lau China Institute's flagship event, China Week in October. Two runners up will each receive £150.

How to enter
The competition deadline is 23:59 BST on Monday 7th August 2023. Entries must be submitted as a PDF with your name and essay title in the subject line and sent to: Lauessay@youngchinawatchers.com.
