Who's who in NMES Professional Services: The Quality Assurance Team

We chat to Senior Quality Assurance Manager Joanna Gillis, Quality Assurance Manager Zoe Worman and Senior Quality Assurance Officer Evangelia Pitsikalis about their roles in the Faculty and what they get up to outside King's.

Name: Joanna Gillis

Title: Senior Quality Assurance Manager

Bio: I'm Jo and I've been at King's since May 2020. Prior to that I worked for the University of Greenwich for 24 years, managing the University's central curriculum records and, latterly, as a Quality Assurance Manger.

Bucket List: I would love to combine my passion for history, the countryside and photography and visit more of the UK, documenting it as I go. I also have a pressing need to break down the final brick walls in my family history research so I can pass my story on to the next generation. Role in the Department: As the Senior Quality Assurance Manager, I am the link between the Faculty and the Central Quality Team. My role is to ensure the Faculty's compliance with University quality assurance processes and procedures. I support all aspects of quality assurance activity, including assessment boards, external examining, academic appeals, curriculum management, and annual and periodic review processes. 

Name: Zoe Worman

Title: Quality Assurance Manager

Bio: I'm Zoe and I have been at King's and NMES since May 2016. Before this, I worked for UCL in Admissions and later in a Programme Administration role in the Faculty of Laws.

Bucket List: I would love to travel some more; with South Africa for a safari, New Zealand and the west coast of Canada currently at the top of the wish list. Although I think it will be a few years before our young family will take on any long-haul travel. In the meantime, I would be happy if I could spend some more time reading and exercising for myself, and hope for a glorious summer to have lots of fun outside with my sons.

Role in the Department: I work closely with Jo and Eva to support the Departments on quality assurance matters and ensure that the Faculty remains compliant with quality assurance regulations and processes. This includes supporting departments through the curriculum development processes; advising on module and programme approvals and amendments, the Department's obligations under the Competition and Markets Authority and annual processes to review programme information.

Name: Evangelia Pitsikalis

Title: Senior Quality Assurance Officer

Bio: Hi! I'm Evangelia. I joined King's in 2021, working first as a Librarian, before taking on a role in the Department of Mathematics in 2022. I've recently joined the Faculty's Quality Assurance team in order to learn more about the role of quality assurance in Higher Education.

Bucket List: To read all the books on my TBR, which is currently longer than my life expectancy.

Role in the Department: I work alongside Jo and Zoe to ensure that our academic processes run smoothly and meet both Faculty and College standards. To do so, we help coordinate new programmes and modules, support quality assurance activities, and provide guidance to colleagues.
