If you have a disability, long term medical or mental health condition or a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia that may impact on how you engage with your studies and are thinking of studying at King’s, we aim to support you in a number of ways both before and after applying.

Our Disability Support & Inclusion  team offers information, advice and guidance about possible support initiatives that may be of help. Their webpages contain detailed information about the type of support King's may provide during your studies, and links to useful information.

King's estate is a mixture of old and new buildings. If you feel physical access may be an issue, please arrange an information visit. This can be arranged before you apply, by contacting the King's Central Disability Support & Inclusion  team. The visit is separate to any King's open day you might attend.

You may want to visit before applying to get a feel for King's. You might also be invited to campus at some point in the application process (for example, for an interview, selection day or offer holder event).

We want to support you during your visit to King's, whether that is related to physical access to our buildings, or access to information and guidance in the format that works for you. • Interviews and selection days: if you are invited to attend an interview or selection day for a place on a course at King's we will usually provide further details of the location and format of your interview in your invitation. Please ensure that you then discuss any access arrangements, or request any reasonable adjustments (especially to interviews or tests) as soon as possible. For example, if you are usually given additional time in written examinations, please let us know in advance.

• Prospectus and course information: if you ever require information from King's in an alternative format please contact our admissions team in the first instance with details of your requirements and we will do our best to provide reasonable adjustments.

When you apply to King's you will be asked in your application form whether or not you wish to declare a disability. If you are disabled, have a long-term medical or mental health condition, and/or a specific learning difference (such as dyslexia), we would strongly encourage you to disclose this in your application form. We can then provide you with any additional information and support that might prove helpful.

Should I disclose at the point of application?

We strongly advise that you make sure you disclose this information at the point of application in order to ensure you are provided with the support you may need in time for the start of your course. You may disclose information at any later stage (except for courses requiring an Occupational Health check) but be aware that this could delay arrangement for support when you start the course.

How will disclosure affect my application?

Your application will be considered based upon your academic merit and potential for your chosen course and no presumptions are made about a disability and how it may affect you in relation to your chosen course.

Students on some courses with 'fitness to practise' criteria (for example Medicine MBBS, Nursing, and Midwifery), will also be required to complete an occupational health questionnaire if they are successful in gaining an offer.

How do I arrange support for when my studies start?

If you are made an offer by King's, then usually in the Spring we will invite you to provide further details about any specific support you might need. It’s important that you engage with this process, as simply declaring a disability on your application form will not automatically mean that support is provided. You can also contact our Disability Support & Inclusion team for advice before arriving at King’s to start your course.

I am an international student – will this affect the support available to me?

The Disability Support & Inclusion team is available for all students, and it is important that you discuss your needs with us. We recognise that it may be more difficult to physically visit the campus before arriving, so please contact us to discuss this as early as possible before the start of your programme with any queries.

How can I set up support for my studies?

To ensure as far as possible that your support (financial and otherwise) is in place by the time you start the programme make sure that you follow these steps:

1. Notify King's about your disability via UCAS/your application or afterwards.
2. Apply for any funding support  you might require (don’t wait until the start of your course!)
3. Contact the Disability Support & Inclusion   team if you have any concerns, before starting at King's.
