How Clearing works
Everything you need to know about the Clearing process.
Read some of our frequently asked questions about Clearing at King's.
King’s receives around 70,000 applications for undergraduate study each year. We usually make enough offers to fill all of our places during the main admissions cycle, but we may still have some places available for high achieving students who are eligible for Clearing.
On A-level results day, Thursday 15 August 2024, we will release a list of all our courses available through Clearing for 2024 entry if we have places available. If you receive your results that day and are interested in a course in Clearing, please call our Clearing hotline to discuss your options. The Clearing hotline number will be available on our Clearing webpages in August and will open at 08:00 (BST) on Thursday 15 August 2024.
Read about our next steps on our confirmation webpage.
King's will receive some results directly from UCAS, but not all results. Check out our confirmation webpage for a list of qualifications and whether we receive the results.
When looking for a course in Clearing you should assume that the entry requirements are the same as detailed on the course details. If you are interested in a course that requires higher grades than you have achieved, it's still worth discussing this during Clearing. However, we advise that you have a back-up option that matches your results more closely.
If you receive a verbal offer to study at King's through Clearing, you will need to release your application into Clearing before you can refer application and accept your offer. You can do this in UCAS Track by exploring "Decline my place". Please note that declining a UF offer is often irreversible, so we urge you to read the Track guidance on this before you make your decision.
If you come to King's through Clearing, you may be able to book accommodation with us. Providing you have firmly accepted your academic offer, you can register and check availability on the portal however we cannot guarantee availability. Find out more about your options and how to book a room here.
If you are looking to join King's in September 2024, you should look into your options for funding your studies as soon as possible, because some deadlines may have passed. If you need advice, contact our Student Funding team for help.
Clearing is for undergraduate courses only with the exception of a handful of MSc Nursing courses, however, you may still be able to apply for postgraduate courses if there is availability. You can find courses on our website, as well as information about how to apply and who to contact if you have any queries.
Congratulations! Your verbal offer will be formalised and when you are ready to accept the offer you can do so through UCAS Hub.
