For parents and carers pushing for social and educational change in their community. 

Delivered in collaboration between the King’s Social Mobility & Widening Participation department and South London Citizens, part of Citizens UK, an alliance of community groups that build power locally to hold decision makers to account.

There are two key parts of Parent Power:

• Parent Power Meetings form the core of the Parent Power programme. They include training sessions on higher education access and community organising, inspirational speakers, and campaign discussions. Meetings also include team building and leadership development opportunities.
• Relational 121’s are 30-minute meetings between two people, parents and facilitators. The aim is to build common ground through conversations.

• Become an expert in access to higher education and community organising.
• Build a community with other parents and carers that act as ambassadors for higher education.
• Gain an understanding of how to best support your young person as they progress through education.
• Become a force for change in your local communities.

Parents living in South London who want to improve their knowledge and understanding of higher education.

If your child is taking part on King’s Scholars or Scholars+ you will be given priority.

Parent meetings are held every six weeks on a Saturday 10am-12pm. We meet parents online or on our campuses, with childcare and lunch provided.

Relational 121’s are mostly held online.
