The lecture series  is made up of 13 core lectures and a bonus programme of talks to support you in crafting your best application. It is your hub of support on your journey to studying medicine and dentistry. The programme consists of online lectures delivered by practicing doctors, dentists, and King’s social mobility staff, Q&A’s with current medical and dental students, and advice on the application process. You’ll become part of  a community of like-minded students who are interested in finding out what it is like to have a career in healthcare and what it takes to succeed. 

• Become part of our growing community of students who hear from speakers working in varied specialities and at different career stages.
• Gain an understanding of the realities of being a healthcare professional and the range of opportunities in medicine and dentistry.
• The chance to reflect on your own skills and experiences to understand how you can make the best possible application to medical or dental school.
• Find out more about the main elements of the application process: personal statements, the UCAT, and interviews.
• Get your questions answered each week by experts.
• Last year's lectures included topics such as cardiology, prosthodontics, renal transplant, alongside discussion about the medical and dental student experience.
• A special Q&A with key admissions colleagues in the school of medicine at KCL, UCL, St George’s, Queen Mary, Imperial and Brunel.

• This programme is for students in Year 11, 12, or 13 as of September 2024, or on a gap year prior to applying to university. Alternatively, if you are a mature student, you are currently taking an Access to Higher Education course.

• Are currently attending (or most recently studied at) a state school (non-fee paying). If this school is non-selective you are automatically eligible to take part in the programme. If the school is selective, you must meet one other widening participation criteria (please see the application form for more information).

• The programme takes place as a live stream on Zoom Webinar. Students will be able to access the lecture via an internet browser or the Zoom app on a computer or mobile device.

• The lecture series begins in early February and runs until July.
