Our university is committed to promoting fair access and participation for students and to address educational inequality. Our Access & Participation Plan sets out our ambition to achieve these commitments including strategic measures, investment and targets to hold ourselves accountable.

All English universities wishing to charge fees above the basic level must have an Access & Participation plan that sets out how they will improve equality of opportunity for underrepresented groups to access, succeed in and progress from higher education. The plan must be approved by the Office for Students (OfS) in accordance with the Higher Education and Research Act 2017.
These plans include: the provider’s ambition for change and how it plans to achieve that change, details of current access targets and other access, success, and progression measures, plus investment plans and financial support available to students to deliver the plan.
We have conducted a self-assessment and set objectives and targets to close gaps between groups in access, student success and progression.
The OfS also consider the groups below as underrepresented in higher education:
In our self-assessment we analysed rates and gaps in access, student success (continuation in study and degree attainment) and progression in terms of employment and postgraduate study. The groups we looked at covered all of the above, plus any differences in male/female rates and the interaction between gender, ethnicity and socioeconomic background using the area-based measures above. We regularly review and monitor these rates as part of our annual reporting.
The plan that applies to you is based on the academic year you started your current studies with us. All plans can be viewed on the Office for Students' website.
We have undertaken a broad range of activities to address educational inequality and promote fair Access & Participation for all underrepresented groups. These include:
