Find out what life as a postgraduate Life Sciences & Medicine student is...
Congratulations on your offer to study Clinical Education in the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. We're thrilled to welcome you and look forward to you joining our community.
Explore the content below for useful tips and information to help you prepare for your studies and get a feel for your course. There are so many ways you can keep connected over the next few months including chatting to both staff and students and attending events.
Any upcoming events will be listed below, so please do check back for updates.
What will my timetable look like?
Once the timetable planner with module dates and times is available it will be shared with you. Room assignments will be available closer to the start of term.
You must attend face-to-face sessions, at the Waterloo or Guy’s campus, depending on the module.
PGCert participants will be assigned to one of the streams (either Tuesday or Wednesday) of the 45-credit module 7TTY0045, Learning and Teaching in Healthcare – Theory and Practice, and are expected to attend all the timetabled sessions for that stream.
You will be asked to register your preference shortly. We will make every effort to accommodate your preference.
You should also plan to register for an options module during Term 2 or Term 3, and again, you must attend all face-to-face timetabled sessions. Options module registration information will be provided to you during September, so keep an eye on your email! The options modules are included on the timetable, so you can choose an optional module that fits with your interests and your availability.
PGDip participants: you must attend all face-to-face timetabled dates for 7TTY0030, Using Research in Clinical Education, during Terms 1 and 2, and 7TTY0029, Researching Clinical Education, in Term 3. You can also select two options modules to complete during your PGDip study. Options module registration information will be provided to you during September, so please keep an eye on your email! The options modules are included on the timetable, so you can choose an optional module that fits with your interests and your availability.
You can find King’s Academic Calendar for 2025/26 on our webpage here.
The reading list for your modules will ready in advance, and after you enrol you will be able to access them on the KEATS site for your module. Don’t worry, you do not need to do a significant amount of advance preparation for the course.
Because everyone on the programme is already in work, there are no placement activities on the course.
The registry team will contact you in September about which stream you prefer, and about module registration, so do look out for an email from them. We have provided the provisional timetable so that you can plan your clinical and other work commitments, as well as personal commitments, around the taught sessions, because your attendance at all the taught sessions is required
If you have any course specific queries, you can contact our colleagues on the programmes administration team, bioscience-programmes@kcl.ac.uk, or Dr Anna Jones, Deputy Programme Director and Postgraduate Certificate Lead, via email on: anna.jones@kcl.ac.uk; or Professor Gabriel Reedy, Programme Director, via email on: Gabriel.reedy@kcl.ac.uk
