About the African Leadership Centre
A global community
The African Leadership Centre (ALC) is a global community of scholars, based at King’s College London and the University of Nairobi, whose research on peace, leadership and security issues aims to inform and influence policy change globally.
We run two master's courses and a Fellowship programme open to African scholars.
We conduct innovative research
Our research takes an innovative, critical and interdisciplinary approach. It examines and challenges mainstream narratives and approaches to peace, security and development challenges in Africa and the developing world. Our 10-year research agenda is titled ‘Future Peace and the role of the State in Africa’ and is informed by a need to re-examine the evolution and role of the state in building and sustaining peace in Africa.
We aim to train students who are capable of generating cutting-edge knowledge to transform discourses on peace, security and development in the developing world.
Enjoy unique opportunities
The African Leadership Centre has attracted some of the most influential thought leaders, diplomats, military personnel, politicians and civil society leaders to speak at lectures and debates with its students.
You will be taught by key experts on leadership issues and will have the opportunity to network with the African Leadership Centre’s wide range of institutional partners, which include organisations and policy institutions from all over the world.
