If you have been offered a conditional or unconditional offer at King's, congratulations!
Below you will find some useful information and guidance for postgraduate offer holders. Please note not all information is relevant to your offer.
Your offer letter will state whether there is a deposit due to accept your offer, the deposit amount and the deadline by which you need to pay. You should accept your offer via your King’s Apply account on the ‘Your Offer’ screen.
Read the Deposit Terms and Conditions before making your deposit payment to understand the terms and conditions relating to refunds; this is included in your offer letter.
If you are experiencing technical issues making a deposit payment, we recommend that you try making the payment on King's Apply once more before proceeding as this will be the quickest route. If your fee payment is successful on King's Apply, you will be able to accept your offer yourself. Please check the browser compatibility with King's Apply (the browser requirements are listed on the main login page) and clear your browser cookies.
If you still experience problems, you should contact us on King’s Apply using the “Deposit Query” message category after making a payment by another recognised method which you can find on our How to pay my fees webpage, with supporting evidence that this was paid by your acceptance deadline. When you make a payment by other means than online debit/credit card payment via King’s Apply, these payments will take longer to be processed and reflected on your account. We will have to accept the offer on your behalf only after the payment is processed.
If you are being actively considered for a full scholarship (i.e. this will cover entire tuition fees), where possible, please supply official information confirming when the award will be announced as this will help us assess whether we can extend your acceptance deadline beyond the current date.
Please send evidence of the sponsorship/scholarship before your acceptance deadline as a message through King's Apply using the “Deposit Query” message category. We can arrange for your deposit to be waived subject to you providing official documentation of your award. The letter must include the following:
If you receive confirmation that your tuition fees will be fully covered after you have paid your deposit, please send evidence of the sponsorship/scholarship through King's Apply with the same details requested above, and we will arrange to return your deposit.
After careful consideration, we have taken the decision not to allow any deferrals for our postgraduate taught courses from the 2023/24 or 2024/25 academic year to future academic years. We have adopted this approach as it is the fairest way to ensure that the cohort of applicants for 2024/25 and 2025/26 have an equal opportunity to gain a place at King’s.
The below is our standard guidance about deferrals. We will announce whether we will permit deferrals from the 2025/26 academic year nearer the time
If you wished to defer and have yet to accept your offer, please decline your offer on King’s Apply. If you have already accepted an offer, please send a message to us on King’s Apply using the “Deferral Request” message category and advise that you wish to decline your offer as you cannot defer.
If you are given an offer which requires you to meet a condition(s) before your place can be confirmed, you will need to send us a message on King’s Apply using the “Meeting Offer Conditions/Confirmation” message category with evidence that you have met your conditions by the deadline stated in your offer letter.
We recommend you send the documentation as soon as you have received these from your university and/or English test provider.
You should attach your final, digital academic documents to a message using the “Meeting Offer Conditions/Confirmation” message category on King’s Apply, including translations of documents where relevant.
Digital documents will need to be verified. We are aware that institutions will use different methods for verification, so we encourage you to find out how they do this:
Ask your institution to send us these documents directly via email to admissions-query@kcl.ac.uk (this is usually via an Awards/Student Registry or Records/Transcripts Office)
Once you have initiated one of these verification processes, please inform us by messaging us here on King’s Apply so we can add the verified document to your application. We ask that you allow 3 working days before contacting us again in order to give your university time to process your request.
Alternatively, we can also accept scans of the official transcript/certificate provided to you by the university. This must be a scan of the original copy and must not be a printout of a digital document. You can attach your scanned document in a message to us.
Please do not send other messages to us through this email address.
Please send your final documents to us, even if you have not been able to meet your academic condition. We will consider your application before making a final decision on whether your place can be confirmed on the programme.
You should update that you do need a student visa on your King’s Apply account in the Application Overview screen under each application. If you cannot see this section, please send our Visa Compliance team a message using the “Visa Query (including CAS)” message category.
Please ensure you have provided us with your current passport details and any additional documentation needed to process your visa, such as details of name changes, previous UK visas etc.
Refer back to the offer letter to ensure you understand what is required from you if you need a student visa.
Please note that we do not begin the CAS process until you have accepted an offer, that you have met all conditions for, and we do not begin the visa process any earlier than six months before the start of your programme. We therefore ask that you do not contact us regarding your CAS until these two criteria have been met.
We will only begin to process your CAS once we are sure we have all the information we need from you to process this accurately.
We aim to process CAS numbers as quickly as we can but during peak periods there may be a delay. To help with the process, please ensure you have uploaded required supporting documentation as soon as possible (such as current passport/previous visas). We can then process your CAS without having to contact you to seek further documentation.
If you need to send our Visa Compliance team a message, you can do so on King’s Apply using the “Visa Query (including CAS)” message category. To ensure the visa team can work through CAS processing as quickly as possible, please only message for an update if there is a specific reason.
Please send our Visa Compliance team a message using the “Visa Query (including CAS)” message category and provide a copy of your passport so they can change it to reflect your name correctly.
If you applied for a PGCE course, you will need to change this on DfE Apply.
Induction and enrolment usually take place up to two weeks before the start of the programme.
We will send enrolment details about four weeks before the start of your course. For September starting programmes, you should expect to receive enrolment information from mid-August onwards. Please note that the enrolment process is not handled directly by Admissions and if you have a specific enrolment query you should contact Student Services via our webpage.
Remember if you have conditions to meet on your offer you will need to provide evidence of meeting these and any other requirements before the enrolment process can begin. Failure to meet the stated deadlines may result in you losing your place on the course.
Information on tuition fees, the fee payment schedule and recognised methods of payment can be found on our Credit Control’s Student Fees Hub. If you are not invoiced by King’s, there may be a different payment schedule to follow.
Please note that we do not offer the option to make a tuition fee payment in pound sterling (GBP) with a non-UK issued card as these transactions are expensive to process.
To help keep you safe, please be aware of common scams and areas of risk that may affect students making payments. Find out more on our student fee fraud and/or scams webpage.
If you have been assigned home fees, the eligibility criteria for a student loan is set by Student Finance England and may differ to the criteria defining who is eligible for home fee status.
For the latest guidance regarding eligibility for a Student Finance Loan, please see the following external websites if you are an offer holder for:
If you choose to accept your offer, please be aware that under our Deposit Scheme Information below, you will not be eligible for a deposit refund if you do not meet the criteria to secure a Student Loan.
Contact the Admissions team by sending us a message via your King’s Apply account. We ask that you select the most relevant message category if you have more than one query, rather than sending multiple messages.
Please note during busy periods there may be a delay in responding to you, but we will reply to you as soon as we can.
If there are delays in processing your application, we will aim to keep you updated. You can send us a message via your King’s Apply account to query the status of your application using the “Application status/update” message category. If we have not responded to your message, this does not mean we are not assessing your application in the meantime, and you do not need to send a further follow message unless you have a new query.
We will contact you if we need further information to assess your application and provide you with a decision as soon as possible.
Some of the questions above already indicate when you should send the Admissions team a message, but we have listed some scenarios here for you:
Please note that we do not hold course specific information such as timetables, module details or reading lists and as such, will not be able to provide you with this information.
Information regarding enrolment does not get sent via the Admissions Office, but should you require more information you can use Student Services Online or ask our Student Services a question via our webpage.
