How to help with your young persons' application:

1. Let them do the research. There's over 30,000 different courses to choose from in the UK alone, so let them have a look and see what the best course is for them.
2. Check their personal statement. Our advice is to look over for grammar, spelling mistakes and layout, but try not to give too many opinions as we want everything to be written by them. We can tell if a parent has written it!
3. Come to open days with them. Come and see which universities they are applying for as it will give you a better sense of security knowing the safe environment they will be in. 

Our History

King’s College London is the fourth oldest university in England and one of the top 10 UK universities in the world (QS World University Rankings 2025).

Many of our past students have gone on to change the world, including Florence Nightingale, Joseph Lister and Desmond Tutu.

King’s is based in the heart of London, so your young person will be close to theatres, museums, galleries, libraries, restaurants and public transport. King’s recently moved into London’s grand, iconic Bush House, the former headquarters of the BBC World Service, which is now part of our Strand campus.

Finance

Finances can be one of the biggest concerns for parents, carers and supporters, but we can support students with tools and funding to ensure that living in London can be affordable. The Student Funding Office and the Student Advice team both offer advice on student funding, ensuring students are aware of the financial support available to them and are able to budget and manage their money effectively.

For many students, living in accommodation at university is the first time they've ever lived away from home and it's important to find the right place to live. King's offers several accommodation options across London and we have over 3,000 places available, plus access to University of London accommodation.

All applicants who meet the following conditions are guaranteed a place in King’s Residences:

• have King’s College London as their firm choice for the following academic year, for a full-time course

• apply by a certain date (please check the accommodation webpages for relevant deadline)

• they have not already been offered accommodation for the year of application.

King's Affordable Accommodation Scheme

King’s Affordable Accommodation Scheme (KAAS) enables undergraduate students to access accommodation priced at below market levels when applicants meet the eligibility criteria outlined on our KAAS webpage. Approved students will also not need to make the £450 advance payment of rent in order to secure their room.

Open days

We hold several open days throughout the year, both on-campus and virtually online. We also have an on-demand open day hub, where you can watch virtual open week recordings at your own leisure. Our open days are a great opportunity for parents, carers, supporters and students to find out more about our undergraduate courses and all the fantastic opportunities that King's has to offer. You will also get the chance to hear from academics and current King's students.
