About the Institution
Shanghai University is one of the top 40 Chinese universities, top 100 Asian universities, the premier university of Shanghai, and a member of China Project 211 Universities. It is a comprehensive university offering 86 undergraduate programmes, 221 graduate programmes, and 117 doctoral programmes in various disciplines including science, humanities & social sciences, engineering, economics & management and art. This summer school series on "Innovation and Business Opportunities in China" is designed to provide overseas students with a unique opportunity to experience doing business and innovation in China first hand.
Who can apply?
The Shanghai University (SILC) Summer School is open to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students only. Postgraduate research students are excluded from this offer.
Courses offered
Shanghai University (SILC) Summer School on "Cultural Heritage and Business Innovation in China" programme is designed to provide students with an immersive learning experience through a combination of lectures, case studies, workshops with entrepreneurs, on-site visits to companies, and group work to deliver business theories and cases. Students will also have the opportunity to communicate with local entrepreneurs face-to-face. SILC's inspirational lectures will guide you on how to do business in China. Students will have a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of Chinese cultural heritage and modern innovation and delve into how intangible cultural heritage can inspire creativity in fields like Cultural Creative Industries and Gaming.
Programme dates
The Shanghai University (SILC) Summer School will run from Monday 16th June 2025 - Friday 27th June 2025.
Application deadlines
If you wish to apply for a place on Shanghai University (SILC) Summer School, you will need to submit your Global Summer Exchange Application by: Sunday 23rd February 2025 before 11:59pm. If your application is successful, you will be required to apply directly to Shanghai University by Thursday 15th May 2025.
What are the costs?
Shanghai University (SILC) Summer School programme fee is 1900 USD. This fee covers courses, course materials, accommodation double-room, breakfast and farewell dinner. Students who are successful in their application will receive a tuition fee waiver, but will be responsible for all other costs, including, flights, accommodation, visas, health/medical insurance (if compulsory), living expenses and those listed above.
Accommodation
Students will be allocated a two person standard room (or single room with additional charges) in the hotel close to the Jiading Campus by SILC. More information will be provided during the application stage.
Eligibility, exclusions & restrictions
Chinese nationals are restricted from applying for a place on the Shanghai University (SILC) Summer School and admission will not be accepted. King’s does not have any authority over admission decisions. Applicants should also: Be aged from 18-55 and in good health Hold a valid passport Have a formal education background at high school or above.
Estimated living costs
Actual expenses may vary depending on student lifestyle. The cost of travel to and from the country is not included in these estimates.
