About the Institution

Seoul National University (SNU) is a public research university located in Seoul, South Korea. Since its establishment in 2007, more than two thousand students from around the world have participated in the SNU International Summer Programme (ISP) to learn, experience, and enjoy an unforgettable summer of academics, activities, and long-lasting friendships. SNU ISP's intensive six-week summer programme taught by distinguished SNU and visiting faculty members offers its participants the chance to learn in depth from experts on Korea and East Asia, as well as a variety of topics ranging from economics and business management to history, politics, sociology, and arts. The programme also provides courses on Korean language and traditional arts for students wishing to learn or advance their Korean language abilities while becoming immersed in Korea's contemporary and traditional culture.

Who can apply?

The Seoul National University International Summer Programme (SNU ISP) is open to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students only. Postgraduate research students are excluded from this offer.

Courses offered

With over 40 courses in English, students can choose from the following topics of interest: Economics & Business Engineering & Sciences International & East Asian Studies Korean Language Korean Studies Music & Arts (learning about the history and cultural significance of K-pop and arts) In addition to this, the SNU International Summer Programme (ISP) also offers a number of customised field trips to regional cities, festivals, and "local-recommended" spots. A multitude of activities such as sports events, games, K-pop dance, movie nights, etc are also on offer.

Application deadlines

Applications for Global Summer Exchange Programme 2024 have now closed. This page will be updated with information on Summer 2025 in due course. Following a successful application, you will be required to apply directly to Seoul National University by the Thursday 9th May 2024.

What are the costs?

There are mainly two types of costs - mandatory and optional: - Mandatory costs include Application Fee which is: 200,000 KRW (around 120 GBP) - Optional costs are for students that attend field trips or stay in on-campus housing (dormitory). For optional costs the dormitory cost is 900,000 KRW (around 544 GBP) and the field trip cost is 300,000 KRW (around 181 GBP). Please note that the price in GBP is not accurate and may change according to the currency. You can also refer to SNU ISP's website for a more specific breakdown of fees. Students who are successful in their application will receive a tuition-fee waiver, but will be responsible for all other costs, including, flights, visas, living expenses and those listed above.

Accommodation

On-campus accommodation is available. SNU's on-campus dormitory has limited spots available and therefore is served on a first-come, first served basis. Students with disabilities will be given priority in assignment. Please find the SNU Centre for Students with Disabilities webpage for more information.

Eligibility, exclusions & requirements

SNU ISP is open to: International students of all nationality (including Korean nationals) who are currently enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate programme at a university outside of Korea (this does NOT include students who finish university before the programme period, or who have already finished university). International students who are graduating high school in summer of 2024 that have been accepted and start university in fall semester of 2024.
