About the Institution
Summer study at Peking University will provide you with an exciting and enriching experience. With its unique location in Beijing, the capital city, as well as the political, cultural, financial and economic hub of China, the program will offer you all the conveniences and amenities of living in a cosmopolitan city, along with the friendly and embracing attitude of its people. The university, established in 1898, is the oldest national university in China, and has played an integral role in the development of the Chinese nation. Today, it enjoys international recognition and welcomes young talents from all around the world. Academic courses with PKU credits are offered for undergraduates, graduates, and working professionals. A variety of course credits, subjects, and durations are available to choose. Fieldtrips as well as extracurricular and social events are also arranged for participants to get more deeply immersed in the local culture and campus life.
Who can apply?
The Peking University Summer School International (PKU SSI) programme is open to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students only. Postgraduate Research students are excluded from this offer.
Courses offered
PKU SSI 2025 offers 21 on-site courses over sessions. Each student can choose courses up to 6 credits. Academic courses are 3 credits bearing (equalling 46-50 PKU credit hours) and 2 credits bearing (equalling 30-32 PKU credit hours). Please note are still in the process of updating their webpages for information on summer 2025. The list below refers to information on summer 2024, therefore, we advise students to check back in the new year for updates to the PKU SSI course list.

PKU SSI is running two sessions and these are as follows: Session A (2-Week Session): Monday 30th June 2025 - Friday 11th July 2025 Session B (2-Week Session): Monday 14th July 2025 - Friday 25th July 2025 Session A&B (4-Week Session): Monday 30th June 2025 - Friday 25th July 2025
Application deadlines
If you wish to apply for a place at the Peking University Summer School International (PKU SSI) , you will need to submit your Global Summer Exchange Application by: Sunday 19th January 2025, by 11:59pm. If your application is successful, you will be required to apply directly to Peking University by Saturday 31st May 2025.
What are the costs?
The PKU SSI fees are as follows: Application fee: 400 RMB On Campus Accommodation: Deposit 500 RMB Room Rate (per person per night): approx. 200 RMB Students who are successful in their application will receive a tuition fee waiver, but will be responsible for all other costs, including, flights, accommodation, visas, health/medical insurance (if compulsory), living expenses and those listed above.
Accommodation
On-campus accommodation is available and the length of the accommodation depends on the length of the course chosen i.e. two-weeks, if the two-week course is chosen & four-weeks, if four-week course is chosen. More information can be found below.

Eligibility, exclusions & restrictions
Chinese nationals are restricted from applying for a place on the PKU SSI and admission will not be accepted. King’s does not have any authority over admission decisions.

Actual expenses may vary depending on student lifestyle. The cost of travel to and from the country is not included in these estimates.
