Fudan University is one of the oldest, most prestigious, and most selective universities in China (World #34, Chinese mainland #3 - QS 2023). Situated in Shanghai, which is an international metropolis with a dynamic and inclusive culture, and also one of the safest cities in the world. Fudan International Summer Session is a 4-week English-taught course study program for college students from all over the world. Starting from 2012, the program has welcomed more than 5,000 students in the past 11 years. It helps students achieve multicultural understanding, establish a global vision, and get connected with peers from all over the world. Fudan University's degree students will also participate in the program. So students will have the opportunity to get to know Shanghai and China, and become part of the Fudan community. Content courses cover a variety of topics, Business and Economy, History and Culture, Science and Technology, Society and Politics, and Law. In addition, PE courses such as Chinese Kungfu and Chinese Folk Dance, and different levels of Chinese language courses are also provided. Apart from the courses, various extracurricular and social activities, such as Shanghai city exploration, Company visits, Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese ceramic art, etc., are also arranged for students to experience the Chinese culture and the wonders of Shanghai, achieve multicultural understanding, establish a global vision, and get connected with peers from Fudan and all over the world.

Who can apply?

The Fudan University International Summer Session (FISS) is open to undergraduate students ONLY. Postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students are excluded from this offer.

Courses offered

Fudan University International Summer Session offer around 35 content courses taught in English, in the following subject areas: 2 PE courses (Chinese Folk Dance and Chinese Kungfu), and 3 Chinese language courses at different levels. Various extracurricular and social activities, such as Fudan Campus Tour, Ice-breaking, Shanghai City Exploration, Huangpu River Cruise, Company Visits, Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance, Chinese Calligraphy, etc., will also be arranged for students to experience the Chinese culture and the wonders of Shanghai, and become connected with each other who are all brilliant young people from both China and abroad. Courses offered as part of the Fudan International Summer School (FISS) will run on the following dates: Monday 30th June 2025 - Friday 25th July 2025

Application deadlines

If you wish to apply for a place at Fudan International Summer School (FISS), you will need to submit your Global Summer Exchange Application by Sunday 19th January 2025, by 11:59pm If your application is successful, you will be required to apply directly to Fudan International Summer School (FISS) by Saturday 31st May 2025.

What are the costs?

There are no fees associated with the Fudan International Summer School (FISS) programme. Students who are successful in their application will receive a tuition fee waiver, but will be responsible for all other costs, including, flights, accommodation, visas, health/medical insurance (if compulsory) and living expenses.

Accommodation

Students are required to arrange their own accommodation in advance. Please note, FISS does not provide on-campus accommodation to Chinese citizens and so these students will need to arrange off-campus accommodation on their own.
