Chinese University of Hong Kong summer programme

We expect to be able to offer places on the Chinese University of Hong Kong summer programme, this will be confirmed in due course. Students can still apply for the programme, but should take this into consideration when completing their application.

Who can apply?

The Chinese University of Hong Kong International Summer School programme is open to undergraduate students only. Postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students are excluded from this offer.

Courses offered

This year the Chinese University of Hong Kong International Summer School are running 2 programmes. International Summer School (ISS) and the Summer Undergraduate Research Programme (SURP). For the ISS Programme, there will be 2 sessions, one in July and this will be a taught over 5 weeks. The session in August, will be taught over 3 weeks. For the July session, students can choose from 20 courses in 5 academic streams: - Chinese Language (Putonghua and Cantonese) - Environment, Science and Technology - Global Business and Management - Society and Human Interaction - Understanding China For the August session, students will take intensive Chinese language training, at various levels of proficiency. For the SURP programme, students can choose from over 70 research topics offered by CUHK host supervisors. Students will be actively engaged in research under the supervision of a CUHK faculty member and earn three credits upon successful completion of the programme. Programme dates

The ISS will run from the following dates: JULY SESSION Sunday 23rd June 2024 - Wednesday 31st July 2024. AUGUST SESSION Sunday 4th August 2024 - Saturday 24th August 2024. The SURP will run for 8 weeks from: Sunday 23rd June 2024 - Saturday 17th August 2024.

Application deadlines

Applications for Global Summer Exchange Programme 2024 have now closed. This page will be updated with information on Summer 2025 in due course. If your application was successful, you will be required to apply directly to CUHK ISS by the following dates: - ISS @CUHK: Tuesday 30th April 2024. - SURP @CUHK: Thursday 29th February 2024.

What are the costs?

The costs for each programme varies and are as follows: ISS: Security deposit (refundable): 1,000 HKD (3 credits); 2,000 HKD (6 credits) SURP: Administration fee: 2,700 HKD Student visa fee: 330 HKD - 630 HKD On-campus accommodation fee (optional): 8,150 HKD Refundable hostel deposit: 1,000 HKD Refundable caution money: 450 HKD More information on the fees associated with both programmes can be found on the following webpages: Students who are successful in their application will receive a tuition-fee waiver, but will be responsible for all other costs, including, flights, visas, living expenses and those listed above.

Accommodation

On-campus accommodation is guaranteed but optional. Please refer to the website below for more information.

To check whether you can study in Hong Kong, please refer to Hong Kong’s immigration guidelines. Please note that Hong Kong’s immigration policy does not allow nationals of some countries to study in the city.
