King's students studying abroad at a partner institution are not charged tuition fees by the host university (although some partners do charge a small administration cost for applying) and can expect to pay just for their travel, accommodation and other course-related costs such as field trips, books etc.

King's will reduce the tuition fees owed for those undergraduate students who study abroad for a semester or year at an exchange partner university. King’s expects to continue to invoice students or their relevant funding body for King's tuition fees at the appropriate fee level depending on the kind of mobility, as following during their year abroad in 2023/24 :

Home fee-paying for a semester

Students studying for a semester abroad will receive an invoice for £6,000 for King’s tuition fees for the year. 

Home fee-paying for a full academic year (students who enrolled in 2022/23 or earlier)

Students studying or working for a full academic year abroad who enrolled at King's for the first time in 2022/23 or earlier will receive an invoice for £1,350 for King’s tuition fees for the year.

Home fee-paying for a full academic year (students who enrolled in 2023/24 or later)

Students studying or working for a full academic year abroad who enrolled at King's for the first time in 2023/24 or later will receive an invoice for £1,385 for King’s tuition fees for the year.

Overseas fee-paying for a semester

Students studying for a semester abroad will receive an invoice for two thirds of the King's tuition fees for the year.

Overseas fee-paying for a full academic year

Students studying or working for a full academic year abroad will receive an invoice for one third of the King's tuition fees for the year.

Postgraduate students on the MA European Studies who choose to study abroad for the second semester at Science Po, Paris or the Humboldt in Berlin do not pay tuition fees to the host university. Instead, they will be required to pay King's full fee for the masters.

Students on one of the Dickson Poon School of Law's dual degree programmes have alternative fee arrangements. More information on the dual degree programmes can be found on The Dickson Poon School of Law international opportunities webpage. American nationals in receipt of United States Federal Aid must be aware that due to Federal Student Aid regulations, they will not be able to use Federal Aid for a course that includes studying abroad for a semester/full year in the USA, or any another foreign school that is not approved for Federal Aid.

Federal Aid funded students wishing to study abroad should check with the Student Funding Office to see whether their study abroad options will make them ineligible for Federal Aid. Further information can be found on our United States loans webpage.
