We are excited to invite all current students to the first ‘How to…’ event of the academic year, hosted by the King’s Alumni Office.
As online teaching becomes more common and organisations move increasingly to remote or hybrid ways of working, many students and recent graduates are finding themselves studying and working solo, in a world that looks remarkably different to just a few years ago. Whilst this new approach has many benefits, there can also be challenges:
- How do we find a sense of community in our work and our studies?
- How do we stay motivated and keep a routine?
- How do we continue to learn from those around us, when they’re not just a desk away?
At this event, we will be joined by Rebecca Seal, who graduated from King’s in 2005 with an MA in International Peace and Security. Rebecca is now a freelance journalist and podcaster, and author of Solo: How to Work Alone (and Not Lose Your Mind). We will talk to Rebecca about her journey and how she learnt to respond to these challenges before solo working became as common as it is today.
The session will take place on Thursday 17 October 2024, 1pm-2pm. (Online, via Zoom) and will last 60 minutes, which will include a structured conversation followed by an opportunity for questions from the audience.
