Celebrating University Mental Health Day 2025

Thursday 13 March is University Mental Health Day, a national opportunity to get talking about your wellbeing and create ongoing change around student mental health. This annual event is organised by Student Minds and the University Mental Health Advisory Network (UMHAN) with the vision that ‘no student should be held back by their mental health’.

We know it's vital to support your mental health, so we’re sharing some resources to help us to help each other.

 

Mental health and wellbeing resources

King’s Counselling & Mental Health Support

The offers free and confidential in-person and online support. They’ve also recently launched a new podcast, brings together counsellors, student officers and student reps to share their experience and insight on mental health at King's.

Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy is a resource for all students at King’s, of any faith or none. They provide weekly mindfulness sessions online every week in term time. Absolutely anyone at King’s is welcome to join in and you don’t need any prior knowledge or experience of mindfulness.

Student Minds

Student Minds is a charity that empowers students to support themselves and their peers through university. They offer a range of resources, from advice articles to support services directories.

There are also lots of different apps out there that you can use to support your mental health and wellbeing, which you can read about on Student Services Online.

 

Get involved

King's is hosting a variety of events across March to encourage you to look after your mental health and wellbeing.

Take Time Out

Held every Tuesday and Thursday during term time, Take Time Out is an opportunity to unwind, make friends and get support. There are activities, like table tennis or crafts, and the chance to speak to one of our Faculty Wellbeing Advisors, a KCLSU Campus Conversations peer supporter, students trained to listen to you and signpost resources, or a KCLSU Advisor, who can offer confidential and impartial advice.

Head to their University Mental Health Day event on Thursday 13 March, 13.00–15.00 at King’s Sport & Wellness Centre, Waterloo campus.

Beating Burnout: Understanding and Overcoming Stress in School and Work

Tuesday 25 March, 14.00–14.45

This engaging online presentation will dive deep into the psychological underpinnings of burnout and its profound effects on an individual. From mindfulness techniques to effective self-talk, learn practical tools to restore balance and prevent burnout from taking over.

The Great King’s Run

Sunday 23 March 2025, 09.30–12.30

The Great King’s Run is back! Run, walk, skip or dance along a beautiful 5km route around the River Thames and Westminster.

The fun run is open to everyone and all runners who take part in fancy dress will be in for a chance to win a prize for the best outfit.

King’s Student Wellbeing survey

The King's Student Wellbeing Survey is our way of measuring your wellbeing and developing strategies and initiatives to best support you. Take part in the survey until Friday 28 March 2025 to receive a free a hot drink credit to spend at King’s Food outlets, and the chance to win one of five King's hoodies.
