Hi, everyone. My name's Ellen Clark-King, I'm the Dean of King's, and I'd like to wish all our Sikh students and staff a very happy Vaisakhi.

Sikhs across the world will be celebrating the day that the Khalsa, the Sikh rite of initiation, was formalised by Guru Gobind Singh.

It's a day to celebrate the ways that Sikhs show their commitment to maintaining a connection with God through self-surrender and self-control, through being willing to stand out and through protecting the innocent in the midst of global disasters, personal tragedies, and all the lesser griefs and frustrations that we all experience.

It's good to be reminded of where we get strength, whether that's from commitment to a faith community from longer, sunnier days, from family and the company of good friends or anything else that brings us joy.

This spring, may you connect to your best sources of strength and hope. And to all our Sikh staff and students, Vadhaiyan Vaisakhi Diyan. Best wishes for Vaisakhi.
