The Zhou Group's current work focuses on the role of complement (anaphylatoxin receptors and collectin 11) in immune regulation and trying to understand whether and how complement interacts with several pivotal cells of the immune system (e.g. dendritic cells, macrophages, and T cells) participating in antimicrobial defence, cancer elimination, autoimmunity and tissue remodelling. Understanding of the interaction between complement and these cells may lead to the development of new (complement-based) pharmaceutical approaches.
